Last weekend I was honoured to receive the 2014 Dave Greber Freelance Writers Award for social justice writing. The award was presented at LitFest in Edmonton for a “A Quiet Slaughter,” published in Hazlitt magazine. It’s the story of a courageous young man, his flight through the forests of eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, and the war of vengeance he escaped. You can read the article here and the award announcement here.
